when we reminisce about our lives as jws, we keep coming back to some themes.
it seems like most of us have had some or all of these experiences:.
faking field service time reports.
we are the same.
People are still flooding out for the same reasons and kids brought up as witnesses still don't stay.
My sister has just left home due to abusive parenting and my step brother will no doubt leave within 2 years. 13 years have passed since I have left and nothing has changed
everyone in the office was called to a big department meeting... with the exception of me and a few others.
we were called to another meeting.
yeah... i knew something was up.
sorry els, I got caught 18 months ago and it really grinds yer balls.
There are loads of .net jobs over here at the moment, I keep getting calls from agencies despite not being interested in going back to being a code monkey.

i seem to have a horrible habit lately of waking up at some ungodly hour (i can say that now right?)..
and then i can't fall back asleep.. i'm amazed how well i actually function the next day sometimes..
smoke hash and read alot.
I am currently oncall for the first time in 3 years and Mrs SLH is particularly ill. I've slept a grand total of 13 hours in 4 days and am rapidly developing a caffiene fetish

for starters, theyre all so close to deaths door that he has repeatedly asked them to stop loitering and just ring the bell.
theyre so old and wizened that they have a hearse on 24-hour standby.

What is even funnier is that someone can be deluded enough to think the dubs will reach 12 million in 3 years. I left 12 years ago and they were at 6 million then. Is it me or does it seem that it would be something of a flight of fancy for there to be less than a million net growth in 13 years to jump 6 million in 3 years?

as some of you know, when cj and i were married, i adopted her daughter, and raised her as my own.
i love her so much, i never referred to her as step-daughter, and never will.
she calls me dad, even though her biological father, somehow found his way out out of the woodwork, when she turned 18.
I've been on the recieving end of this situation a couple of times with girls I have been dating.
An ex girlfriends parents (non JW's) made us sleep apart the first couple of times we stayed at their house and although we were a bit cheesed off we went with it out of respect for them with it being their house. After we had stayed at their house a couple of times they realised our relationship was a long term thing and were cool with us sleeping together under their roof.
My mother in law was cool with me and Clare sleeping together under her roof from day one. We appreciated the respect she showed us in not trying to police our relationship or try to inflict external morals on us.
Basically what I am saying is decide what you feel comfortable with, they will respect it either way. I would be totally cool with sleeping seperate if there were younger kids in the house.
now this is not a bush bashing thread, i think everyone here pretty much knows how i feel about the man, but there is quite a bit of controversy surrounding our president--just today even.
he is thinking of funding church groups that do volunteer work.
he was visiting a church in louisana today that has had a childcare program since 1941. he would like to see federal funds given to such organizations even if they are run by a church.
All of you have no idea what you are talking about. JW have always been a non-profit organization who only survive on voluntary contributions. This has been proven time and time again. Today religious organizations are taxed because they profit greatly off of the contributions that are made (sometimes mandatory contributions). JW are not taxed by the IRS because the work that they do is all voluntary and so are the contributions. The IRS has confirmed this time and time again. This also means that no one profits at all. Can you say that about other organizations? This just shows that they really are doing their work out of love for God and his word.So why would you think that they would accept money from the Devil himself? They could easily get rich like other religions. If they haven't done it yet, why would they do it now.
Don't know very much do you? They own hundreds of millions in property and are particularly wealthy. You don't think that Brooklyn addresses come cheap do you?
this may sound somewhat cynical, but i think the society has held to it's position on blood in order to create a never-ending supply of martyrs.
martyrs are needed for the society to hold up as shining examples of faith and devotion.
this sense of self-sacrifice helps them tow the line with regards to all of their insane rules.. wg

This is a really interesting thread and I wish I had read it before posting my "Why?" thread. I have completely rejected Xtianity as a myth and the bible as a tool of oppression, anyway that's a side issue and I won't hijack the thread ...... yet!
I've just started reading CoC and got through the first two chapters last night. Nothing I have read is particularly shocking so far as I saw plenty of hypocracy growing up as an elder's son. I'm not sure what to think of the book yet but one thing I did notice is that in the second chapter there is a section which deals with the numbers of baptisms over recent years and average publisher numbers. My only negative comment so far is that these numbers don't add up.
For instance,
X= No of publishers in 1998
Y= No of baptisms in 1999
Z= No of publishers in 1999
N= No of witnesses falling away
Chapter 2 presents the numbers thus: X+Y-Z=N
No. Sorry that's not the case.
Each year a large number of the people are baptised who were already counted as publishers the previous year - those that had been studying for over a year and also those that have grown up as witnesses.
Have I missed something? I am trying to be as open minded as possible reading the book and not just accept everything at face value as I would when I was a dub and reading the WTBTS literature.
I would wish for god (if he/she exists) to appear visibly on a nice big cloud and bitch slap the governing body into kingdom come so that all the silly little dubs were set free from silliness, I'd wish for a shed load of cash so I could be master of my own destiny rather than being owned by the bank and having to be a wage slave and I'd wish for the human life span to be increased three fold so I had plenty of time to enjoy it and my friends would all be alive to help me spend it
